Meet the Financial Aid Scholarship Specialist/Work Study Coordinator
By Joy Y Wiggins
Joy.Wiggins@mail.umhelena.edu
Karina Moulton is the Financial Aid Scholarship Specialist/Work Study Coordinator for Helena College and has worked at the college for 3 years. Karina is the person to see for scholarship opportunities and work study positions’ availability. She said that the greatest part of her job is doing marketing and crafty stuff like for Student Employment Week and the Cash Carnival. The most difficult part is finding students for work-study positions and getting students to apply for scholarships. Karina runs reports to see which students are eligible for different scholarships and then sends those students emails to let them know they can apply for that scholarship.
Karina was a student at Helena College from 2008 to 2011 and started as a work-study in the financial aid office. She wants students to know that financial aid personnel are not scary people and want to help students to be successful.
An interesting thing about Karina is that she likes to go up to her family’s cabin in East Glacier for fun. She has an older Boston Terrier named Sophie. Karina works two jobs so she can also be found at Walgreens.
